What are a CDN and its benefits on the Internet?

The complete form of 'CDN' is 'Content Delivery Network', which plays a vital role in providing fast and easy access to online content away from the user.

It usually works to improve the performance of a website as well as its security and reliability. This is especially useful for managing high traffic websites.

CDN is used to make online content available faster to users on video streaming platforms like Netflix, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and e-commerce companies like Amazon and Daraj.

Suppose any website is made in the USA. But if we try to see the online content, such as photos, videos and text from other locations than the USA, it will take a long time for loading content. The main reason for that is the distance.

But if CDN is used in it, the distance will decrease. CDN stores online content at the local POP (Point of Presence).

As a result, online content from local POP near to the user location reaches the user's computer and mobile quickly and easily. Using CDN makes online content available speedily and efficiently and protects the website from a cyberattack like DDoS (Denial of Service Attack).

Another advantage of this is that the website owner can provide online content according to the users' needs scattered in different areas.

Users in one area of the website may need some online content. But it may also be unnecessary for other regions. Thus, CDNs play an essential role in controlling online content.
